The mindbreaking IT-event

The goal

  1. To create a clear, distinctive event brand idea.
  2. To use wit and guerilla marketing.
  3. Not to do yet another boring IT conference.

The base idea & logo

YOUCON = ЮКОН (in Russian). Russian letter «Ю» is very unfamiliar to any latin-based language. But it’s really cool for IT.

Just look. It is “1” and “0”

The main, everybody-used symbols of code, programming.

And it easily shifts to Russian Ю ➡️

We intentionally use the monospace font for capital ofc. And it goes with a bullseye inside 0 — it will play it’s own special role in future brand “mutation”.

We break the pattern!

That’s already quite good platform for event brand. It has the idea and symbolism. We have catched good and clear idea.

But let’s go further…

Before the event it is:

On the event day it becomes

an anual
conference
of extraterrestrial intelligence


Why it’s about “extraterrestrial intelligence”?

Let’s be honest: everybody considers programmers and developers “not of this planet”

It is reason to loosen up for all IT-public. It’s funny to post in social medias, that you are on the #alienintellegence party as a guest or speaker.

Almost every phrase thoughout the conference goes with a strange-looking subscript translation

The profound change of a brand in event date

  • It is awesome for guerilla marketing and post-coverage
  • Great matter to loosen up for usually introverted public
  • wow-effect of signs, badges, pointers, navigation of “extraterrestrial” language 🤪👾

All the keynotes would be the same, it would be a usefull science conference. But it goes along with bright humour in a title slides, new job positions and names for speakers, new types of conference activities.

The weekend conf shouldn’t be a  sequel to the job. It should be educational, but also highlighting and positive.

and I think that such an explosive concept is a great reason to remember the event for a long time

next events should get more eyes in logo =)

The result

The first official brand (“before” the event) has bright and transparent idea and a symbolism. It’s already hinting at some “breaking patterns”, anicipating something more unusual.

And the plan about brand transformation in the day of event is really an emotion blast.

The brand of YOUCON become one of my brightest ideas. It is multifaceted. Nice looking classical branding + gamechanging idea about aliens.

  • eye-catching and self-propelled brand
